Information about the course

The in-house BHV course takes place at your own location, making it easy to train multiple participants from the organization at once to become Emergency Response Officers (BHV’ers). An Emergency Response Officer is essential for workplace safety, ensuring that there is always someone present to respond correctly to an emergency situation. An additional advantage of the in-house BHV course is that practical exercises can incorporate examples from your own organization. The space required includes a large canteen or hall and a parking lot for fire training.

What do you learn during the in-house BHV Basic Course?

During the in-house BHV course, participants of all experience levels learn the basics to perform the four tasks of an Emergency Response Officer. The day starts with theory, but there is plenty of room for the practical part. Ultimately, the in-house BHV course concludes with an exam, after which everyone who passes receives the Emergency Response Officer certificate.

The four tasks of an Emergency Response Officer are:

  • Immediate response to emergencies
  • Limitation and control of a starting fire
  • Guidance during an evacuation
  • Communication with emergency services
"Because we had the BHV course at our location, we were able to conduct an evacuation drill in our own company. I never knew where all the emergency exits were, so it was valuable to learn." - Thijs
